Applecross has a vacancy for a resident General Practitioner. For those who like an active life there are the mountains of Torridon, Achnashellach and Skye close by, and the waters of the Inner Sound of Raasay which, warmed by the Gulf Stream, are ideal for sailing and kayaking. This position was advertised last year, but, unfortunately, the successful candidate decided at the last minute to take a change of direction in his career and move overseas.

Until the construction of the north coast road in 1975, the only access, other than by footpath, was over the Bealach nam Bo, the pass of the cattle. The Bealach, for many centuries, was a massive guardian to Applecross.
